So Meg was watching Grease the other day… As if simply watching Grease, or any musical for that matter isn’t bad enough… She happened to be watching it while Fight Club was on…

The conversation went a lil’ something like this…

Me… Let’s change it.

Meg… I’m watching this.

Me… But Fight Club is on.

Meg… And???

Me… C’mon! Haven’t you seen Grease like a thousand times already?

Meg… Haven’t you seen Fight Club like a million times?

Several minutes pass while I pout on the couch and Meg pretends to ignore me.

Me… Musicals are so stupid! Like that would ever actually happen… When is the last time you just burst out into song in the middle of a conversation??? Whatever!

Meg… When is the last time you joined an underground boxing club which was a front for a terrorist anarchist organization???

Me… (Thinking Touche’)

Meg… That’s what I thought…

Seriously though… When is the last time you burst into song in the middle of a conversation? Or on the elevator? Or walking down the street? It doesn’t happen…

And when was the last time you and your friends were out bowling and all of you began dancing intricately choreographed dance steps on the fly? No practice… No rehearsal… No precedent… You all simply felt the urge to dance the same exact steps at the same exact time… It doesn’t happen…

I just don’t get musicals… They make no sense.

Now Fight Club on the other hand, makes perfect sense… You never know… I might belong to an underground boxing club which is a front for an anarchist terrorist organization… It could happen, and you would never know because everyone knows the first rule of Fight Club is…
