In fact one fan even bought Jason a new laptop because his old computer… Well… It just wasn’t working right.
Not only that… Apparently his family has the nerve to ask fans to put up the cash for a mission trip for Jasons girlfriend!

Let’s face it… Even the contestants with talent, don’t actually have enough of it to actually make it. The best they can hope for is a stint on The Surreal Life
Which gives me a great idea for a reality television show… “American Idol, My 15 Minutes of Fame are Over”!
A pseudo-reality docu-drama which showcases the AI contestants downward spiral from pop god hopefuls, through their elimination and then ultimately capturing their lowest moments trading sexual favors for meth-amphetamines and crack cocaine in and around the various motels and hotels Las Vegas, LA, Atlantic City and New York have to offer, ala Jessica Sierra.
I’m not sure how many of the network executives over at VH1 read my blog, but if any of you happen to be reading this… But really… This idea is pure pseudo-reality gold, and judging from the cyber pan handling that’s going on… I’d say you’ll have more than enough contestants willing to sell their soul for a dollar.
Come to think of it… I’m a douchebag whore, and I need a new laptop! Which one of you bitches is gonna’ put out?

Truth: New computer was from Apple. They replaced his when his old Dell stopped working. The other Idols all got new Apples too. See numerous videos and pics of them all with MacBooks. Apple is an AI sponsor. Shocking, right?
Also truth: All the other Idols rake in the expensive gifts as well, but for whatever reason these stupid sites seem set on making Jason the poster child for something. I guess because there is nothing else to say? Why is nobody complaining that Michael Johns fans openly bought him a computer and vid camera. Why do people not complain about expensive leather boots given to Cook?
Also again, half of VFTW’s info is wrong. They just say whatever sounds good. Truth makes little difference to them. At least if you’re going to make jokes try to base it on something truthful.

Great post! To answer the question why Jason has been singled out for the gifts, it’s his family’s involvement that is the real problem. Sooner and KBelisle, family friends who claim to speak for the Castros, have whipped the fans into a frenzy of gift-giving. KBelisle specifically asked for fans to donate airline miles to the family on Idol Forums. Sooner has even accepted fan gifts for herself…for what? For writing incoherent posts and telling fans to vote like wild pigs?
Jason’s mother has been way too involved on the boards, and she’s done some crazy stuff. She asked fans to pray that a man release a domain name and she went further by posting his full name and address. She also has accepted gifts for herself and even for her 13-year-old daughter. She really shouldn’t allow her young daughter to be exposed to crazy fans. The latest dumb-ass move was berating a 15-year-old girl for selling items with the dreadhead logo, which the girl owns copyrights to. It’s hysterical how the delusional fans congratulate Betsy for being mother of the year in light of these antics.
rachel, you appear to have your own agenda to promote here. Whether you are drinking the kook-aide or shilling it out is something to ponder though. When things don’t make sense, then usually it’s not true. Why on earth would Apple present any of the idols with a Mac from behind the barricades while fans were lined up to get autographs? Wouldn’t it have been delivered to him on the bus or in his hotel room? Wouldn’t a representative from Apple garner more respect than waiting out with a bunch of screaming tweens and fraus until Jason just happened to show up?

Well of course Apple bought the contestants computers. Which is why no fan needed to buy a laptop for any of them in the first place.
They didn’t just decide to replace it once Castro’s Dell broke down. They were the BIGGEST AI SPONSOR in addition to Ford. Why wouldn’t they all get their own Macbooks, during the season even?
